This ecoregion is largely Chilean although it spills over the border into Argentina.

 

The more detailed map below shows the northern quarter of the ecoregion:

Adjacent ecoregions include the following: i) at its northern extremity, the ecoregion is surrounded by the Chilean Matorral (NT1201); ii) to the northeast is the Southern Andean Steppe (NT1008); the southeastern border is next to the Patagonian Steppe NT0805); and iv) at its southern extremity, the ecoregion abuts against the Magellanic Subpolar Forests (NT0402).

Santiago is bisected by the boundary between the Chilean Matorral to the west and this ecoregion to the east.
