The ecoregion is located primarily in Patagonian Chile but also spills over the border in various places into adjacent Argentina. The white patches inside the ecoregion are areas of ice cover. In Chile, the northern limit is near Parque Nacional Patagonia and to the south it includes Puerto Natales and the Parque Nacional Torres del Paine. Ushuaia in Argentina is located in this ecoregion as well as the Falklands Islands (Las Malvinas).
Adjacent ecoregions include the following: i) to the north, the blue area, are the Valdivian Temperate Forests (NT0404); and ii) the Patagonian Steppe (NT0805) to the east (and a few disjunct patches inside the ecoregion).
